A PLAYWRIGHT IN RESIDENCE

We call them playwrights but we don’t call what they do playwrighting. This is probably because most plays people see are written first and then produced from a script. At NACL, however — not exclusively, but more often than not — the kind of work that gets made is wrought, not written.

This post is based on an interview with India Nicole Burton whose ensemble was in residence at NACL in 2022. The ensemble members consisted of India, her brother John (aka Jaiie Dayo-Aliya), Molly Andrews-Hinders, and Michael Akintoye.
