Why Do Actors Train?
Why Do Actors Train? Embodiment for Theatre Makers and Thinkers (Bloomsbury/Methuen Drama) is a book written by NACL Artistic Director Brad Krumholz, published last year, that has just come out in paperback. Since its publication Brad has given several interviews, talks, and workshops elucidating the book's contents in Sibiu, Romania; Halifax, Nova Scotia; NYC and Narrowsburg, NY — and as we write this — at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.
The book focuses on recent developments in neuroscience, philosophy, and related fields, developing a new theory of embodiment to investigate the actor’s craft.
We will be engaging this forum with ideas from the book in an upcoming feature, but if you'd like to learn more as soon as possible, we wanted to let you know there will be a livestream of a discussion with Brad at Green College, UBC, Tuesday, October 1st at 5pm (PDT). Details can be found HERE.
